Computer history is a fascinating journey through time, innovation and technological progress. It began thousands of years ago with the invention of mechanical calculators like the abacus, Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine evolved into the first programmable device in the 19th century. The mid-20th century witnessed the birth of electronic computers such as ENIAC and UNIVAC, which were widespread and used mainly for scientific and military purposes.

The development of transistors in the 1950s ushered in the digital age, leading to smaller and more powerful computers. The 1970s saw the rise of the personal computer, with pioneers such as IBM and Apple introducing machines that individuals could use at home and in the office. The 1980s brought the graphical user interface (GUI) and the mouse, revolutionizing how people interacted with computers.

The World Wide Web emerged in the 1990s, connecting computers worldwide and paving the way for the Internet boom. Mobile computing became mainstream with the rise of smartphones and tablets in the 2000s,

while cloud computing and big data emerged as major trends in the 2010s, transforming how data is stored, processed and accessed.

Today, we stand on the threshold of the quantum computing era, where machines use the power of quantum mechanics to solve complex problems unimaginable with classical computers.

As technology advances at an unprecedented pace, the history of computers serves as a testament to human ingenuity and relentless pursuit of innovation.
